Monday

Last week we got a little behind as a result of my being at meetings, students being at field trips and my decision to take a break from foreign policy to discuss what the cold war meant for the people at home (McCarthyism).  Therefore, this week we will continue the explanation of Truman’s policy.
So what was Truman’s policy and what impact did it have on the events after WWII and on the course that other Presidents (continuous discussion) took after Truman?
Three areas to look at:

  • Berlin Airlift
  • Korea
  • Cuban Missile Crisis
Our discussion on these will continue in the next week

Final Exam topic assigned.

Tuesday

Continue discussion

    • Berlin Airlift
    • Korea
    • Cuban Missile Crisis

Final Exam background info on topic assigned.  There are three choices for each topic; students need to read background by next class period to decide which policy option they wish to choose.

Thursday

The Cold War escalates:

  • Cuban Missile Crisis and Space Race

Pick your option for your exam topic (three choices for policy, you need to pick one)

Students should do some research on their topic to find out current perspectives (most of the research will have to be done on student’s own time, however I have 8 working computers in the class and some days will be allocated by shared time to type or do further research).

Bring in all sources by next week Friday to discuss MLA citation and how to use quotes so we do not plagiarize.
