Topics/ Activities:

Monday

Students will continue learning about music and rhythm in writing, and work in groups to get a peer opinion of the strengths and weaknesses of their work.

 

Students will see the value of entertaining/getting the attention of their peers, in relation to writing tools.

Tuesday

 

 

Wednesday

Students will learn about character and voice development in writing as they continue to draft in their journals. This includes voice in poetry and prose as well as non-fiction (newspaper articles, etc.)

 

Students will identify the number of characters/voices appropriate for the piece they are working on.

 

Students will be follow-up conferencing with me in small groups to guide their writing and check progress.

Thursday

 

Friday

Students will learn about choosing a purpose for their writing, making a point to influence their audience, and using writing to gain an advantage.

 

Students will continue writing in their journals.

 

Students will conference each other to look for main themes in writing, and make suggestions as to which pieces should be published.
