Topics/ Activities:

Monday

Students will be reading and responding to free verse poetry from various sources.

Students will be choosing a piece of their own writing to revise, polish and publish. They will learn how to spot quality writing, and begin brainstorming their goals for the writing they chose.

Tuesday

Wednesday

Students will be reading and responding to contemporary short stories.

Students will search their writing for details to add more to, or remove, and practice dealing with their own writing on a sentence by sentence level. They will be exploring the purpose of their length, style, and word choice.

Thursday

Friday

Students will review and respond to a variety of non-fiction .

Students will learn the value of presentation and polishing, in the form of colors, graphics, grammar, font sizes, formatting, etc.
